Rosacea Pictures - Before And After IPL Treatments
Monday, September 28th, 2009 by adminYou may not have heard about one of the new rosacea treatments - intense pulsed light (IPL). This laser treatment is used to treat facial redness, flushing, and reduce the breakouts that are generally associated with rosacea. The IPL treatments are promising with rosacea pictures showing dramatic improvement in redness and flushing (see video) after a number of treatments.
Study Shows Promising Results For IPL Rosacea Treatments
In one study, research was conducted with 32 patients undergoing between 1 to 7 treatments with IPL. These rosacea sufferers were evaluated in a clinical setting with pictures of rosacea before and after being documented. Also, these same individuals were asked to complete a detailed questionnaire regarding their personal response to the IPL treatment.
What appear to be very promising results:
Are There Any Side Effects?
Also good news was that reported complications from these treatments were reported as minimal and transitory. So, based on the limited subject size, it would appear that intense pulsed light treatments may be an effective rosacea treatment for the symptoms of rosacea and should be monitored closely for further evidence to support these claims.
Take a look at these before and after rosacea pictures of patients who have undergone IPL rosacea treatments:

Will Your Rosacea Treatment Be Effective Forever?
Thursday, September 24th, 2009 by adminThis question is a common concern of many rosacea sufferers whose rosacea treatment may or may not have an expiration date on the tube. Whether you are using an over-the-counter rosacea cream product or a prescription from your doctor, be aware of the possibility that your present medication may lose some its effectiveness over the long term.
The below Q & A provides a little more insight into this popular question:
Q. How long is a topical medication effective?
A. There is usually an expiration date on the tube label or on the prescription label affixed to the tube or packaging. However, if you feel your medication is not working, it’s time to consult your doctor. Topical medications are usually prescribed for use once or twice a day — every day — not sporadically. In a survey of more than 1,000 rosacea patients, 74 percent said their condition worsened if they did not use medication as prescribed. Moreover, of those complying with medical therapy as prescribed, nearly 70 percent said their condition had improved.

As you can see, applying your rosacea cream as directed is critical to your skin care treatment plan. Consistent application of your medication will help ensure that the product will work as effectively as possible.

Laser Treatment For Rosacea
Thursday, September 24th, 2009 by adminIf you are at your wits end trying to get rid of your rosacea, then you may want to consider the newest technology in the fight against this skin disorder — laser treatment for rosacea. This alternative treatment is not normally recommended for mild cases of rosacea, but is generally reserved for the more serious cases.
The laser treatments are relatively new for use in the treatment of rosacea, but preliminary results have been promising. You will need multiple sessions to effectively reduce the blood vessels near the skins surface, and thereafter, a session every now and then to touch up facial areas that are still being affected.
I found this short video that provides information regarding rosacea laser treatments and what you can expect:
When it comes to cost, the laser treatments are not cheap. This is an advanced medical procedure that is performed by a trained doctor, usually a dermatologist. So, our recommendation is to try our recommended rosacea cream products and see if the results are satisfactory in controlling flare-ups and symptoms. If not, you may want to inquire with your dermatologist regarding the laser treatment for rosacea and see if the results will warrant the significant investment.

Are Natural Rosacea Cures The Answer?
Wednesday, September 16th, 2009 by adminIt seems that rosacea affects more women than men, with a higher occurrence of the disease in the middle-aged group. Thus, the majority of patients are people between 30 and 60, but here we ought to add that black skin is more difficult to diagnose. Yet, there is not enough clinical evidence to support the idea that acne rosacea affects fair-skinned people most of the times.
What Does Rosacea Look Like?
The acne blemishes specific to the disease are most often distributed in the nose area, on the cheeks and chin, but the central forehead doesn’t get spared either. Although the oily appearance of the skin makes acne rosacea resemble acne vulgaris, differences do exist. In traditional acne forms, comedones have no limitation of extent, whereas with rosacea they don’t even appear in the flush areas. Moreover, rosacea is characterized by hypertrophy which is not common with acne vulgaris. Viewing rosacea pictures of the different symptoms can offer more insights into these common symptoms.
Treating Rosacea
Since rosacea is a chronic disease its evolution usually expands over several years marked by critical episodes characterized by inflammation. Corticosteroids are commonly prescribed for the alleviation of the symptoms, but they are not suitable for long-term therapy because of the risk to cause an atrophy or permanent vaso-dilation of the tissues. Most doctors will therefore choose to recommend the systemic treatment instead of the topical one. This is why natural rosacea cures can prove to be a better treatment strategy for long term use.
